As we continue planning exciting field trips for our students, we want to thank the many adult volunteers who make these opportunities possible. Your time, presence, and enthusiasm help create meaningful experiences for our learners—we couldn’t do what we do without you!
As a friendly reminder, any adult who is planning to drive students must be cleared by Maggie at least five (5) days in advance. Maggie’s mornings are incredibly full as she supports the daily needs of our school community, and last-minute driver clearances affect her ability to do her job effectively. Please help us support her by planning ahead.
Additionally, we want to remind all chaperones of a few key expectations to ensure the safety, fairness, and smooth operation of each trip:
Drivers must travel directly to and from the destination. Please only go to and from the field trip destination. Please do not make stops for treats or other purchases for students, as this is not equitable to all participants.
Students must be supervised at all times by their assigned adults.
No siblings or non-cleared individuals may attend the trip with you.
All school rules apply during field trips—including behavior, safety, and cell phone use.
Your partnership makes these memorable learning experiences possible, and we truly appreciate your support in following these guidelines.
As we enter the final stretch of the school year, we want to emphasize the importance of attendance during these last 30 days. While some may already have summer on their minds, we still have essential learning and special events planned.
Some highlights include:
Exhibition preparation is in full swing, and students are hard at work bringing their projects to life. Their daily attendance is crucial in a project-based learning environment. Students are much more engaged and have much deeper learning experiences when attending regularly.
The Fire Department will be visiting to teach our 3rd through 5th graders about fire safety.
Because our students (with their adults’ support!) met our March attendance goal, Dr. Melissa and I will celebrate with a choreographed, synchronized dance—yes, really!—followed by a dunk tank appearance.
We have our talent show coming up and our students are so very excited!!
With so many fun events planned, let’s finish the year together. Every day counts!
If your child is experiencing social, emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties that are impacting them at school, wellness check-ins are available to all students as a support. Wellness check-ins can take place as needed throughout the year.
This year we will also work to offer monthly lunch bunches for students struggling to connect with their peers during unstructured times. This support will also be available to all students throughout the year.
If you have any questions about any of these supports please email Ericah Edwards at eedwards@hightechhigh.org.
Let’s continue to work together this school year to create a community that connects all students to the supports that they need and deserve!
Rady Children's and SDCOE have collaborated to create a webinar series for parents and caregivers that addresses mental health challenges faced by youth. These are a great opportunity for families to connect to resources and have some of their questions answered by clinicians. Some of the topics include bullying, self-harm, and stress/resilience.

Dear HTeX Community,
As the end of the school year quickly approaches I want to take the time to say thank you to everyone for all of the time, energy, and love that you pour into our community. It has been a beautiful experience to witness everyone come together and create such wonderful memories for our community.
There are two remaining PA meetings for this school year:
Wednesday May 14th @ 8:30 (in the gathering area)
Wednesday May 28th @ 8:30 (in the gathering area)
*We are looking for more community members to join the PA council for the next school year. If you are interested in holding an office please reach out to Marissa at htexpapresident@gmail.com. Elections will be held at the May 28th meeting.
Best Wishes,
Marissa
(On behalf of the PA)
Please park only at the designated spots in our parking lots to avoid blocking parked cars. Also, please park at accessible parking spots if you have a placard. We noticed cars parked in the accessible parking spots without a placard and a family member who needed these spots had to park and walk a longer distance.
If the parking lot is full, please park in the lot across the street or the residential area.
Thank you for your help in adhering to the parking regulations and for keeping our community safe!
While we love to see your children’s smiling faces in school, and regular daily attendance is important to all we do, we do want to remind you to keep students home if they are ill, particularly if they have a fever.
COVID-19 Reminder For Students
If they are symptomatic, they should be encouraged to test and/or share with parents they should test.
If they test positive, they should also stay home if they are symptomatic.
They can return to school when they are also fever-free for 24-hours without the use of fever-reducing medications and other non-fever symptoms are improving.
If they test positive but are asymptomatic (no fever, and no other symptoms) they can remain at school unless symptoms develop.
They should be encouraged to wear a mask through Day 10 (masks should be available at the front desk).
Tests
Everyone can, once again, order four free boxes of COVID-19 tests via USPS. This can be done through this link.
Please continue to communicate with the school if your child will be absent due to illness by contacting Maggie at mfragoso@hightechhigh.org. Please notify Ms. Maggie the day of student absence.
We are looking forward to an exciting school year of learning and want to help keep our community healthy!
The HTeX Community Meeting is a cherished time for our entire school community to unite, creating a space for collective learning, sharing valuable information, and celebrating the diversity and achievements within our community. HTeX Enhancements
Over the past year, we have worked to enliven and enrich our interior and exterior spaces at HTeX. We have removed clutter, fresh paint for interior hallways walls, added color, and provided a TK play space.
We have also added window enhancements. As shared previously, T-Mobile activated cell phone antennas on the Rock Church last summer. These antennas comply with all local, state and federal safety regulations. At the time, we conducted both professional and in-house RF measurements. All measurements were found to be well under the safe ranges for even the most restrictive countries. In order to further mitigate RF exposure, we installed RF Shielding Window Film on the windows of our school facing the Rock installation. This metallic tinting is designed to block RF and will aid the shielding that already exists from the walls.

Dear HTex Families and Community,
Our School would love your support in collecting Box Tops.
Box Tops help our School by raising money ! These funds help our school with resources. In turn it will help our children grow in their educational experiences. All you have to do is cut them out send them with your child to school. Each classroom will have a yellow envelope where Box Tops could be deposited. The contest will be between classrooms. Our school also gives rewards to students and classrooms to make Box Top collecting a friendly competition.
Thank you for your valued support.
